Institute offers handy mobile reporting tools guide

By MIRAISY RODRIGUEZ

While browsing Journalism.org for resources, I clicked on “Tools for Online Journalists” and was transferred from the Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism to the University of Missouri’s Reynolds Journalism Institute.

These sites are treasure troves!

On the RJI site I found the Mobile Journalism Reporting Tools Guide. The guide offers reviews of everything a mobile journalist could need, from tripods to audio editing software. Not only are some of the applications reviewed and recommended quite affordable, comparison tables make life easy for those with little time to read the full reviews.

If a guide user does explore the full reviews, he or she will find a brief overview of how to use the different tools. Perhaps even more important, the reviews often include links to more recent reviews of the same tools.

There are sure to be many other great resources on the RJI site, but this guide could be quite useful for start up journalists that need to jump right in.
