Ron DeSantis and Andrew Gillum in Florida\u2019s gubernatorial primaries, DeSantis\u2019s word choice during an on-air interview with Fox, came under fire.<\/p>\n<p>According to <em>Rolling Stone<\/em>, DeSantis stated, \u201cThe last thing we need to do is monkey this up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda with huge tax increases and bankrupting the state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The article by Bob Moser, emphasizes DeSantis\u2019s use of the word \u201cmonkey\u201d and quotes Gillum\u2019s response comparing the comment to a bullhorn.<\/p>\n<p>Moser later refers to President Donald Trump as, \u201cthe bullhorner-in-chief,\u201d making his personal stance on the issue clear. Even later stating that the president, \u201ccouldn\u2019t be more grossly mistaken\u2026\u201d in regard to Trump\u2019s comment stating that Gillum is DeSantis\u2019s ideal opponent and insinuating the ease with which he believes DeSantis will win.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Not only did Congressman Ron DeSantis easily win the Republican Primary, but his opponent in November is his biggest dream &#8230; a failed Socialist Mayor named Andrew Gillum who has allowed crime &amp; many other problems to flourish in his city. This is not what Florida wants or needs!<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/realDonaldTrump\/status\/1034772809350885376?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 29, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Moser then continues to use phrases such as \u201cdog-whistling\u201d when referring to Republican candidate\u2019s calling out their opponents on various issues.<\/p>\n<p>Seemingly in support of the Republican opposition, Moser emphatically says, \u201cCheckmate!\u201d in support of the response by Stacey Abrams, candidate for Georgia governor, to GOP attacks on her financial status.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s difficult to blame the author for any bias regarding these issues when he later elaborates on further anti-black anecdotes about the Road to Power, an Idaho-based white supremacist group. During their time in Florida, Moore documents them as mocking Gillum through taunts such as, \u201cI is Andrew Gillum. We Negroes\u2026done made mud huts while white folks waste a bunch of time making their home out of wood an\u2019 stone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The article ends on a somewhat positive note, affirming that racist jabs toward Gillum will only work in his favor during the election, giving the people something to vote against.<\/p>\n<p>Although Moore may have expressed some personal opinions through various instances of pseudo-name-calling, he had evidence, anecdotes, and direct quotes in support of all claims made.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, in situations with vehement racism, it grows increasingly difficult to remain neutral which may have resulted in the over encompassing evil-versus-good feeling of the article.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By SARAH BRADDOCK Following the victories of Rep.
