{"id":5434,"date":"2016-02-25T23:18:50","date_gmt":"2016-02-26T04:18:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/students.com.miami.edu\/reporting\/?p=5434"},"modified":"2016-02-26T06:21:34","modified_gmt":"2016-02-26T11:21:34","slug":"designers-support-clinton-at-nyfw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/students.com.miami.edu\/reporting\/designers-support-clinton-at-nyfw\/","title":{"rendered":"Designers support Clinton at NYFW"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By SIDNEY STERLING<\/p>\n<p>As the iconic New York Fashion Week (NYFW) came to a close on the 19<sup>th<\/sup>, style gurus, designers and models were buzzing about something other than the latest haute couture.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5435 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/students.com.miami.edu\/reporting\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Screen-Shot-2016-02-25-at-10.46.57-PM-195x300.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2016-02-25 at 10.46.57 PM\" width=\"195\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/students.com.miami.edu\/reporting\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Screen-Shot-2016-02-25-at-10.46.57-PM-195x300.png 195w, https:\/\/students.com.miami.edu\/reporting\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Screen-Shot-2016-02-25-at-10.46.57-PM.png 296w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 195px) 100vw, 195px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Big name designers like Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch and Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow of Public School revealed campaign shirts in support of democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on and off the runways of NYFW.<\/p>\n<p>These shirts are a key part of Clinton\u2019s \u201cMade for History\u201d project and all of the profits go directly to her presidential campaign.<\/p>\n<p>The goal of \u201cMade for History\u201d is to include more upscale merchandise to Clinton\u2019s online store, provide an additional way for supporters to express themselves and help gain traction for Clinton\u2019s campaign.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5436 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/students.com.miami.edu\/reporting\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Screen-Shot-2016-02-25-at-10.47.27-PM-184x300.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2016-02-25 at 10.47.27 PM\" width=\"184\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/students.com.miami.edu\/reporting\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Screen-Shot-2016-02-25-at-10.47.27-PM-184x300.png 184w, https:\/\/students.com.miami.edu\/reporting\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Screen-Shot-2016-02-25-at-10.47.27-PM.png 285w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 184px) 100vw, 184px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Each designer was reportedly given free rein for their personal designs and all three t-shirts are priced at $45 and can be purchased on <a href=\"http:\/\/hillaryclinton.com\">hillaryclinton.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>After seeing the shirts all over NYFW, celebrities are sharing their comments about the designs\u00a0on social media.<\/p>\n<p>Kendall Jenner posed in her Marc Jacobs deigned Hillary shirt and posted on her Instagram saying, \u201cShirt by @themarcjacobs. History by @hillaryclinton. #MadeforHistory #ImWithHer @voguemagazine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The<\/em> New<em> York Times<\/em> thought the campaign idea was \u201cbrilliant\u201d and stated, \u201cFashion Week is not normally the first event that comes to mind when one thinks of the perfect time to hold a political fund-raiser.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5437 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/students.com.miami.edu\/reporting\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Screen-Shot-2016-02-25-at-10.47.35-PM-185x300.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2016-02-25 at 10.47.35 PM\" width=\"185\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/students.com.miami.edu\/reporting\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Screen-Shot-2016-02-25-at-10.47.35-PM-185x300.png 185w, https:\/\/students.com.miami.edu\/reporting\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Screen-Shot-2016-02-25-at-10.47.35-PM.png 288w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 185px) 100vw, 185px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>However other fashion blogs like Digiday are criticizing Clinton for an \u201celitist\u201d move.<\/p>\n<p>Adam Wray, the curator of Fashion ReDef newsletter, told Digiday, \u201cMy main issue with the t-shirts is simply that they\u2019re ugly and in addition to other millennial-pandering items like the \u201cChillary Clinton\u201d beer koozie, is\u00a0not going to help her flagging standing among\u00a0young people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Like it or hate it, people are still talking about Clinton\u2019s latest fashion statement (no, not a different color pantsuit) and chatter creates momentum for political campaigns, which is the ultimate goal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By SIDNEY STERLING As the iconic New York Fashion Week (NYFW) came to a close on the 19th, style gurus, designers and models were buzzing about something other than the latest haute couture.
