The Wynwood Arts District of Miami is home to art galleries, museums, shops, bars, restaurants and one of the world’s largest open-air street-art installations.
But who would have thought that within this now world-known arts district, there could be a globally influenced Peruvian restaurant. Well, GK Bistronomie is the newest addition to the area.
Located in the heart of the Wynwood Arts District, this artsy restaurant and bar brings a complete selection of food and drinks to the locals and the thousands of tourists passing by the area every week.
The restaurant, created by Peruvian Chef Rafael Pérez, has the power to attract almost anybody walking on NW 25th Street.
Perez’s expertise in the culinary scene goes beyond unimaginable. After owning several restaurants in Peru and Ecuador, Pérez decided to share his talent with the Sexiest City in the World, Miami.
GK Bistronomie incorporates itself on the Wynwood unique style. The graffiti paintings on its façade can easily make anyone think that they are about to enter an art gallery. However, once diners get to make their first step into this iconic culinary place, they’ll be sure not to leave with at least trying something from the menu.
Before you enter, judging by the amount of graffiti on the walls, you are not prepared to enter into a modernized cultural restaurant. You will encounter yourself with an open dining area with a bar full of a broad selection of drinks. This includes a list of worldwide wines, cocktails, the typical Pisco Sour (GKB Sours), craft beers and normal beverages.
For the seafood lovers, Peruvian food is the greatest option. GK Bistronomie takes the diners to another level. The idea at the restaurant is to create an unforgettable experience rather than just a dish. The different color textures all around the place, the nautical lighting and the music make you relax while enjoying an exquisite dish from the exotic menu.
The sophisticated aura presents an open kitchen with a ceviche bar that allows guests observe the delicate process of preparing the freshly made dishes.
If you visit GK Bistronomie, you must indulge yourself in the Pork Taquitos, a choice from the appetizers. These are small round-bite-size meat cakes filled with pork, Swiss cheese, onion mojo, guacamole, and chipotle mayo on the bottom and topped with pico de gallo. This appetizer is the perfect starter to share with that special someone and for only $9.
Also if you feel like trying a very traditional Peruvian dish, you will find a variety of Ceviche choices. As well, for the main entrée, you can have the famous Lomo Saltado ($15), sautéed beef tenderloin, topped with cilantro, tomatoes, onions, yellow pepper, potatoes fries and jasmine rice.
Another option is the Arroz Chaufa con Mariscos ($16), seafood stir-fried rice. It comes with shrimp, squid, octopus, clams, mussels, soy sauce, scallions, egg, red peppers and rice.
And for the vegans the restaurant is preparing to come up with a selection of more healthy dishes in the upcoming weeks.
The options for dessert are not that many but the ones available are worth the try. Starting from the Nutella mousse to the chocolate fondue brownie with whip cream. The choices are delicious and light and are the perfect way to end the meal.
Overall, GK Bistronomie is a great place, from the food to the service. Prices are reasonable, ranging from $9 an appetizer to $28 a main course. A couple could expect to spend $80 for an appetizer, two main entrees, beverages and dessert.
Don’t wait any longer to indulge yourself in the Peruvian culture and cuisine.
